The main timer window

• The main timer display is an editable control when the timer is stopped. The time format must be entered in the time format a followed; HH:MM:SS in a 24 hour format. The seconds can be omitted and entered as HH:MM. Entering the time in a format that is invalid will reset the time to 00:00:00.
• The upper right checkbox determines if JcTimer starts minimized at start up.
• The radio buttons to the right of the timer time determines whether the time is counted up or counted down.

  NOTE: counting down past 00:00:00 will continue in the negative until -23:59:59 then reset to 00:00:00 and continue counting down in the negative.

• The play button starts the clock incrementing or decrementing in one second intervals.

  NOTE: The first second will not be one second long. It is used to synchronize with the seconds of the system clock.

• The pause button stops the counting process.
• The reset button sets the timer time to 00:00:00. The reet button can be used while the counter is counting.
• The “Get current time and start” button gets the current system time and starts the counting process.
• The checkbox to the right of the “Get current time and start” will automatically get the current time and start the counter when JcTimer is initially loaded.

  NOTE: If JcTimer was set to count down last time it was run. The counter will count down at start up.

• “Add Alarm” button adds an alarm entry at the top of the alarm list.

  NOTE: Alarms explained in next section.

• “Log Event” button adds an entry to the log windows text as per the log windows settings.

  NOTE: "Log window" explained lower down this document.

• Check box next to the “Log Event” button. Determines if the log windows will appear when the “Log Event” button is clicked.
• “Show/Hide Log” button shows or hides the log window.
• Checkbox next to “Show/Hide Log” button. Determines if the log window will be opened or closed at application start up.

Alarm list

• The alarm highest at the top of the list has priority. This means that if two alarms are set to ring at a specific time. The top most alarm will play while the ones lower down the list will not.
• To explain the concept of priorities, in the example to the right...

  The timer will count down from 10 seconds, Play the default sound on seconds 09, 08, 07, 06, play five.wav on 05, four.wav on 04, three.wav on 03, two.wav on 02, one.wav on 01 and play over.wav on 00 then stop.

  NOTE: If the last entry in the example to the right was placed at the top of the list. The default sound would of played for all 10 seconds then stopped at 00:00:00. The other sounds would not have bean heard.

• Checkbox below Stop label. Stops the timer at the specified time. Once this alarm is triggered, the application stops.

  NOTE: Without playing the selected sound.

• Checkbox below Beep label. Plays the selected sound at the specified timer time.
• Checkbox below Every label. Play the selected sound every specified timer time interval.

  NOTE: multiple checkboxes can be selected at once.

• Time textbox. Specifies the time or time interval at which the event will trigger.
• “Up arrow” button. Moves the alarm entry one place up in the list of alarms.
• “Down arrow” button. Moves the alarm one place down in the list of alarms.
• “X” button. Delete the alarms from the list of alarms.
• “Browse” button. Brows file system to find sound (*.wav) sound files.
• “File path/name” textbox. Path and filename of the selected sound file.

  NOTE: The file name can be edited directly without the use of the browse button.

  NOTE: Invalid files will play the default system sound.

  NOTE: It is recommended to use short sounds samples such as beeps, rings and dings... There is no way to stop playback once it has started.

• You can technically have an unlimited number of alarms, but your mileage may vary depending of the power of your computer.

The Log window

The log window main function is to record specific timer time at a button click. The log window does not have to be showing to record the timer time at the button click. The log text can be edited while the app is running.

The log window can be opened, closed, minimized or maximized independently from the main JcTimer time window. Consequently, The log window must be control independently from the main JcTimer window.

• “Log Event” button. Prepend/append timer time entry to the Log text area
• “Clear Log” button. Clear/erase the Log text area
• “Timer” checkbox. Add timer time to log entry
• “Date” checkbox. Add current system date to log entry.
• “Time” checkbox. Add current system time to log entry.
• “Space” checkbox. Add an empty line between log entries.
• “Add Tag” checkbox. Add user defined Tag line to log entry.
• “Add tag” textbox. User definable tag.
• “Log text area” textbox. Log Text editor.

  NOTE: Text can be edited while the app is running.

• To export the content of the log window to a word processor or other software. Select the text or CTRL-A (Select All), CTRL-C (Copy), and CTRL-V (Paste) it into your other software.
